Max Hartenstern is German National Champion
Last Sunday, 24.07.2022, the German Downhill Championship took place as part of the iXS Downhill Cup in the traditional venue of Ilmenau. The course at the Lindenberg was once again carefully prepared for the occasion and the approximately 1.5 kilometre long course with 220 metres of altitude was transformed into a challenging venue for the most important race in the German downhill scene.
Max Hartenstern from the CUBE Factory Racing Team was already in first place on Saturday afternoon during the seeding run and was able to gain two and a half seconds on his competitors with a time of 1:55.566 minutes. On Sunday, he lived up to his role as favourite and secured the German championship title with a clean run and a two-second lead. For Hartenstern it is already the 6th title in the elite class.
Max Hartenstern:
"The weekend started rough again and I crashed in the first run. Then in the second run I also struggled a bit. In the end I somehow made it and took the win. I'm really happy that I was able to get the German championship jersey back and that everything worked out in the end. Now I'm ready for America and the next Downhill World Cups."
