Biniam Girmay has made history at this year's Tour de France as the winner of the prestigious green sprinter's jersey, clinching the first-ever Grand Tour jersey classification for his team Intermarché-Wanty and CUBE.

WIN STAGE 8

Already in the green jersey, Girmay proved this was no one-off with a repeat performance on stage 8. His victory on the day's stage from Semur-en-Auxois to Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises was down to some brilliant teamwork led by team mates Kobe Goossens and Georg Zimmermann. Girmay edged ahead of the bunch on the finish climb to extend his lead in the sprint points classification.

WIN STAGE 12

But the crowning moment came on stage 12, a 203.6km course from Aurillac to Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Girmay outmanoeuvred his rivals to the line with a masterclass in tactics and power in the decisive final part of the race to further consolidate his points lead and hold on the green jersey.
